After several accidents occurred for tourist boats, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has asked local governments to suspend the operation of unsafe vessels.
The Ministry has also asked the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Departments of Transportation of all provinces and related agencies to inspect and handle violations of regulations to ensure safety for tourists on the inland waterways.
Several severe waterway accidents have occurred recently. Most recently, a small boat was sunken while transporting tourists from Sung Sot Cave in Ha Long Bay to the Paradise Luxury tourist boat, after having a collision with another tourist boat on October 3, killing five Taiwanese tourists.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, these accidents have caused serious consequences, affecting the image of Vietnam’s tourism.
